Surya replaced Vijay?

The much hyped under production flick & the first remake of Aamir Khan's '3 Idiots' titled as 'Moovar' is shelved in both the versions.

surya vijay

There has been many speculations regarding the star cast and the director Shankar has decided to drop the project as he is not finding the suitable stars from Tollywood & Kollywood.

Initially he signed Mahesh Babu for playing 'Aamir' role in Telugu version & Vijay in Tamil version. Jeeva & Srikanth has been roped in to play the other characters in both the versions. Vijay walked out of the project due to date issues and then Mahesh Babu also walked out of the project for the same reason. Meanwhile Director Shankar approached Surya to play the lead role in both the versions but there was no signs of any kind of official announcement regarding this.

There was no updates regarding this project for a long time and the long silence of Director Shankar makes us to think that the project would have been shelved for now.

Tension stills continues for Vijay’s Kaavalan

Tension prevailed outside a theatre complex at Chromepet, a southern suburb of Chennai, Monday morning, after more than 100 fans of Vijay assembled outside the cinema hall to stage a protest.

vijay Kaavalan

According to them, several posters of their matinee idol starrer film ‘Kavalan’, which hit the screens on Pongal day, were ‘deliberately’ torn and damaged by miscreants. The fans also alleged that the police failed to take action when they filed a complaint.

Alleging that no case was registered against those involved in the ‘act’, angry fans raised slogans demanding immediate action against the wrong-doers. A large number of policemen were deployed at the spot.

It is to be noted that a lot of uncertainty prevailed over the release of ‘Kavalan’ till the eleventh hour. Vijay fans are of the opinion that a ‘powerful force’ has been working against their matinee idol.

This resulted in scribes calling their colleagues in cinema and political beats with all anxiousness to know as to when the meeting would take place and whether the actor would enroll himself in the main opposition party of the State.

The actor, who apparently has political ambitions, met Jayalalithaa at a marriage function in Chennai recently and cherished his brief meeting with the former Chief Minister in an interview to a magazine.

Jayalalithaa, while addressing a massive rally at Madurai, said without mentioning the name of Vijay that an actor was facing troubles and hurdles from the ruling party thanks to his political ambitions.

Kavalan’s problem stills continues….

An out of the court settlement has not yet been arrived over the dispute on 'Kavalan' as announced, following which the stay issued last week on the film's release continues.

Kaavalan_Movie_Latest_Stills_05

This has been confirmed by J K Saravanan of Tantra, who has acquired the foreign distribution rights of the Vijay-starrer movie and later approached the court seeking a stay,

"It is true that we informed the court that we would arrive at a settlement at the earliest. But a compromise solution has not been worked out yet between us (Saravanan, producer Romesh Babu and director Shakthi Chidambaram, who acquired the movie's release rights)," he says.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitors’ Association reportedly decided on Wednesday not to screen any of Vijay’s films across the State until the actor compensates for the losses his earlier movies incurred.

A decision in this connection was taken during an executive committee meeting of the association in Coimbatore, it is said.

But all these things have not dampened the spirit of those involved in the making of the film. "It is a soft, gripping script and will sure work big time with the audience," a unit source says.

Kaavalan caught in a fresh controversy

The much-awaited movie for Vijay's fans, Kaavalan, is caught in a fresh controversy. The movie is produced by Ramesh Babu, who had earlier sold the overseas distribution rights to Tantra, a company specializing in this. With the movie's release nearing, director Sakthi Chidambaram has bought the entire rights of the movie from the original production house. With the new agreement in place, Sakthi Chidambaram claims that the overseas distribution rights sold to Tantra is not valid.

Upset with this development, Tantra has knocked the doors of the Court and has filed a case regarding this. A judgment was announced today which has stayed the release of Kaavalan for the next six weeks within which time, the producers and distributors may agree to a solution. Why Simbu not taking a decision over ‘3 Idiots?

Silambarasan (STR these days) has not yet made a decision whether to act or not in the Tamil remake of Hindi hit ‘3 Idiots’. The reason, according to the actor is, Vijay playing the role played by Aamir Khan in the original.

simbu300710_1

Speaking to student journalists at a meeting organised by a Tamil weekly magazine in Chennai recently, Simbu said, “I respect Vijay. And it is good to act with him. But Ajith fans like me a lot.”

“I don’t want to hurt the sentiments of Ajith fans. This is the reason behind me not taking a decision over ‘3 Idiots’ so far,” the actor-filmmaker said and added: “Hopefully I would decide on the issue soon.”

Saying that films targeting youngsters have become the order of the day, Silambarasan said this is because of the changing trend of Tamil cinema. “Because, youth subjects are welcomed by the audience these days,” he said.

3-Idiots remake

South Indian cinema’s ‘numero uno’ director Shankar will be remaking the film as a bilingual.

Shankar’s publicist Nikil Murugan has tweeted that Vijay, Simbu, Madhavan along with Sathyaraj playing the role made memorable by Bomman Irani will be there in the Tamil version, while the only change in the Telugu version will be Mahesh Babu coming in the place of Vijay.

3 Idiots had raked in Rs 240 crore from box office collection in its first 10 days of screening and is estimated to have done record business of Rs 400 crore worldwide. Made on a budget of Rs 45 crore, the returns broke all records.
